Teen ‘couple’ found dead on rail tracks, ‘honour’ killing suspected

The boy’s elder cousin, said: “We do not think that our boy committed suicide. Nobody from our family knew about their relationship,” said Manish.Malik said the families are being questioned, and they have denied any altercation with the two teenagers.

Greater Noida: A 15-year-old girl and a 19-year-old boy were found dead on railway tracks in Greater Noida’s Dadri area on Wednesday morning, a day after they went missing.The boy’s family suspects it could be a case of “honour” killing.The bodies were discovered at around 6.30 am when a group of morning walkers spotted them on the tracks near Ajayabpur railway station in Maicha village and alerted the police. Police are awaiting the autopsy reports.While the girl was a native of Samadhanpur village, the boy was from Luharli village in Dadri. Both belonged to the Gujjar community. They were enrolled in different schools in Class VII and XII, respectively and were athletes, said police.According to police, the two were missing since Tuesday after they left their homes for sports practice separately. When the girl did not return home, her family informed police.“We received information at around 4.30 pm on Tuesday evening when the family of the girl reached the police station and filed a missing report. They alleged that the boy had abducted her. However, when we accompanied them to his house, he was also found (to be) missing. At around 6.30 am, the two were found dead on the railway tracks near Ajayabpur railway station. Prima facie they jumped in front of the train. However, we have sent their bodies for autopsy to ascertain the reason of death,” said Neeraj Malik, SHO, Dadri.The boy’s family said it suspected foul play. The boy’s elder cousin, said: “We do not think that our boy committed suicide. I suspect that both were killed. We will soon file a police complaint once the autopsy report comes.”The family said they had no idea about his relationship with the girl, and denied there had been any clash over the matter that could have led him to suicide.“His close friends said the two knew each other since the last six months after they met at a sports event. Nobody from our family knew about their relationship,” said Manish.Malik said the families are being questioned, and they have denied any altercation with the two teenagers.
