1 day left for tika utsav to end, Noida still 63,000 short of target

Noida/Ghaziabad: On the third day of tika utsav, Noida inoculated 7,730 people, registering the lowest turnout since the drive started on Sunday. So far, 25,070 people have been vaccinated in Gautam Budh Nagar under the drive against a target of 88,000.Neighbouring Ghaziabad had 103 vaccination centres on Tuesday, including 70 government facilities, and inoculated 10,496 people. On Monday, the footfall in the district was 13,750. In Noida, 2,195 people who got the jabs were over 60 years of age.

Noida/Ghaziabad: On the third day of tika utsav, Noida inoculated 7,730 people, registering the lowest turnout since the drive started on Sunday. A total of 90 centres inoculated people, including 50 government facilities Against a target of 35,000 Ghaziabad could achieve only about 30% for Tuesday under the ongoing drive. In all 6,951 people took the shots at government centres and 3,545 people were vaccinated at private hospitals. As many as 2,899 people above 60 years were inoculated on Tuesday.

The third day of tika utsav did not see much rush at the vaccination centres in both urban and rural areas. It is believed that due to the first day of the Navratri festival, fewer people took the jabs. But despite the low turnout, social distancing norms could not be followed at most vaccination centres.

In the three days of tika utsav, 32,358 people have been vaccinated in the district so far. The target was to inoculate 88,000 people. In government centres, the target was in the range of 100 to 800. For private hospitals, it was between 100 and 400. At several government health and wellness centres, the footfall was in single digit.

Ghaziabad had about 50,000 vaccines available before the start of the drive on Tuesday. On Monday, Noida and Ghaziabad had together vaccinated about 24,000 people. Although Ghaziabad’s coverage was about 39%, with 13,750 people getting the vaccine, the district had recorded its highest footfall on Monday since the innoculation drive began in January.
