At 1,446, Noida records drop in fresh Covid cases

Noida/Ghaziabad: Gautam Budh Nagar on Monday registered a decline in its daily Covid-19 cases. With 1,446 fresh cases in 24 hours, the district’s tally now stands at 45,792. On the same day, 13 succumbed to the infection, taking the toll to 250. The fatality count though remains under 1%.On Sunday, Gautam Budh Nagar reported as many as 1,571 fresh corona cases, its highest single-day tally so far, while 12 patients died of Covid.

Noida/Ghaziabad: Gautam Budh Nagar on Monday registered a decline in its daily Covid-19 cases. With 1,446 fresh cases in 24 hours, the district’s tally now stands at 45,792. On the same day, 13 succumbed to the infection, taking the toll to 250. The fatality count though remains under 1%.On Sunday, Gautam Budh Nagar reported as many as 1,571 fresh corona cases, its highest single-day tally so far, while 12 patients died of Covid.

On a positive note, some 1,712 people managed to recover from the disease on Monday. At present, 7,982 people are in home isolation or are undergoing treatment at Covid care facilities across the district, according to the official health bulletin. As per the bed tracker set up the district administration, all the oxygen as well as ICU beds are currently occupied. The 23 Covid care facilities have about 1,791 beds equipped to give oxygen and 811 beds in the ICU wards. About 300 beds are equipped with machines that provide mechanised ventilation.

During the first three days of May, almost 1,500 cases and at least 12 deaths were being reported on a daily basis. However, with an increasing recovery rate, the total count of active patients has come down from 8,261 at one point to 7,982.

Neighbouring Ghaziabad, on Monday, reported five Covid-related deaths and 598 fresh corona cases in 24 hours. In the first three days of May, as many as 45 deaths and 2,887 cases were reported. The total death toll has increased to 251 in the district, while the district`s tally of Covid cases rose to 42,643.

Meanwhile, 1,152 patients were discharged from hospitals and home isolation at the same time. Altogether, 35,834 patients have recovered and discharged in the district. At present, there are 6,558 active cases. The recovery rate of Ghaziabad stands at 84.4% while the case fatality rate is 0.58%. Meanwhile, as many as 5,854 people took Covid shots on Monday at 40 government centres. No private hospital participated in the inoculation drive. Of the 5,854 people, some 3,694 were above 45 years and 1,906 above 60 years.


Altogether 2.9 lakh people have taken first jabs so far in Ghaziabad.
