Govt doctors must stay in OPDs till 2pm, hospitals told

NOIDA: The UP government has directed chief medical officers (CMOs) to use CSR funds to increase the capacity of government pathology labs. Hospitals have been asked to ensure doctors are available in OPDs from 8am to 2pm. Until now, there was no specific time for doctors to be present, and it depended on the number of patients coming to the OPD.In addition, specialist doctors will also be deployed at all community health centres (CHCs) so the number of referrals come down.Health officials said, "Deployment of specialists at CHCs will save patients from the hassle of going to bigger centres in the city.""People must get treatment at primary health care centres and district hospitals easily. Hence the CMOs along with hospital incharge have been directed to make preparations to manage patients in a better manner", said the Principal Health Secretary, Parthsarthi Sen Sharma in his orders sent to the district health department in Noida and Ghaziabad.The orders directed hospitals, including the district combined hospital in sector 39 in Noida, MMG hospital, and combined hospital in Ghaziabad, to keep all their machines in operational condition along with the availability of medicines to avoid any trouble to the patients. In case, there is an increase in the number of patients at the OPD, token systems will be introduced to help the patients, officials added.Earlier, the government pathology accepted samples only till 2 pm, but that has been extended till 4 pm for the ease of the patients. Sharma also directed CMOs in Lucknow to deploy additional doctors to the emergency and OPDs to attend to maximum patients in less time.
