Noida extension's new settlers cast their votes

The voters however complained about the location of the booth which was located far from the residential region, in a village.Of 2200 applicants from Gaur City, 1400 received their voting slips.

GREATER NOIDA: Having withdrawn their campaign for #NoHouseNoVote, residents of Greater Noida's Noida Extension region, who received their voting slips, went ahead and cast their votes at the Haibatpur Village Voting booth.The residents of these apartments who have moved into their flats in mid-2015 had initially supported the home buyers and agreed to cast their votes in NOTA category. However, after promises by contesting political parties to highlight their concern, post polls, the home buyers withdrew their campaign.Of the approximate 3000 applicants from the Noida Extension region, only about 1450 from various apartments received valid slips to cast their votes. The maximum voter turnout was from Gaur City apartments. The voters however complained about the location of the booth which was located far from the residential region, in a village.Of 2200 applicants from Gaur City, 1400 received their voting slips. 943 voters from the area went and cast their votes at the Village Haibatpur polling booth, 2 kilometers away from the apartments. Of the 800 apartments of Eco Village II which have been given possession, 300 residents had applied for voter cards; none of them were delivered."Despite repeated attempts and camps set by us to get our residents registered, not a single voting slip reached us. So finally I went to Meerut, my former residential area to cast my vote today," Vibhor Vaish a resident of Supertech Eco Village II said."Only 4 applicants from our apartments, Supertech Eco Village I got their slips," Sumit Saxena resident of Supertech Eco Village I said."There were 2200 applicant, but 1400 slips came and 943 exercised their rights. Because the voting centre was in a village and far away from where we live, many of us didn't go. It was also impractical for a lot of senior citizens to go and vote," Amarjeet Rathod, resident of Gaur City said.'Many women voters also felt discouraged because of the location of the polling booth and the distance from Gaur City," Preeti Rastogi, a voter from Gaur City added."Now that all the home buyers have cast their votes and participated in the electoral system of Noida, we hope anyone who gets elected, pays valid attention to the issues of the homebuyers of Noida," Abhishek Kumar, president, Noida Extension Fat Owners Welfare Association, (Nefowa), said.
