No response from 100, cops react to tweet after 5 hours

The police, though reacted to a Twitter complaint, finally reached the victims nearly four hours after the crime.According to the Noida-based engineers, who work in Delhi and Gurgaon-based private companies, they were travelling on a Pulsar bike when two youths on a Discover bike overtook them from behind near Maharishi School in Sector 104."The one riding pillion tried to snatch my bike's key. At first, we could not understand what they were trying to do. When they slowed down their bike the second time, I realised that they were trying to snatch the bike. They also asked me to hand over the key to them. One of them hit my right hand with the beer can he was holding. We resisted and hit them back," Brajendra Singh , one of the engineers told TOI.He said that as the passersby gathered on noticing the commotion, the bikers fled from the spot. However, the engineers managed to take the photos of the duo using their phone.The two engineers immediately tried to call police on 100. However, they did not get any response, they said."I made one call which got no response, while the other could not get connected. My friend Vijay Pal , who was riding pillion, tried the number twice but he too received no response from the police," said Brajendra , a resident of Sector 93.As they could not receive any police help, they tweeted their plight to the UP Police's official Twitter handle and tagged the photo of the assailants. The @Uppolice replied saying that the matter has been forwarded to Sector 39 police station.However, there was still no response from the local police. Finally, they received a call from Sector 39 police station around 11 pm. "The policeman concerned asked me for the photos but there was no headway in the matter so far," said Brajendra."Had the police helped us earlier, the assailants could have been caught," said Vijay Pal, the second engineer who stays in Sector 82.
