Fake call centre busted, 43 arrested

NOIDA: The special task force of Noida police (Noida-STF), on Thursday, busted a fake call centre and arrested 43 people, including nine masterminds, from their two offices in the city. "We conducted a raid and arrested 43 people, including nine masterminds, from the two offices. Kapil Tyagi said he has been running the fake call centre for two years. They frequently changed their company's name, from SBP Solutions to LICI Solutions to Nefta Solutions, etc. Singh complained he had received a call from some people, who had demanded money to initiate the process of returns.

NOIDA: The special task force of Noida police (Noida-STF), on Thursday, busted a fake call centre and arrested 43 people, including nine masterminds, from their two offices in the city. The gang used to make calls to people promising huge returns on life insurance policies, after stealing data from some vendors.Triveni Singh, additional SP (UP-STF), said on March 27, 2017, colonel Ramman Singh, a resident of Fatehpur, had registered an FIR in a local police station, alleging fraud of Rs 86.77 lakh against a promise of high returns on an ICICI Prudential Life Insurance policy. Singh complained he had received a call from some people, who had demanded money to initiate the process of returns. But after he had given them personal and policy details, he realised he had been robbed of a huge sum of money. The accused also started ignoring his calls afterwards.Amitabh Yash, IG (UP-STF), directed Lucknow-STF to solve the case. Triveni Singh said police put the accused on surveillance and traced them to two rented offices in Sector 11 and Sector 64. "We conducted a raid and arrested 43 people, including nine masterminds, from the two offices. We've also seized 14 desktops, 34 walkie-talkies and two laptops," he said.The masterminds have been identified as Kapil Tyagi of Saharanpur, Gaurav Sharma of Ghaziabad, Shivam Ankur of Allahabad, Arjun Singh and Prateek Shah of Noida, Varun Singh and Narendra Kumar of Delhi, Atul Tyagi and Ankit Tyagi of Muzaffarnagar. Kapil Tyagi said he has been running the fake call centre for two years."I used to get data of ICICI Prudential Life Insurance and HDFC Ergo Insurance from some vendors. We then called the insurance holders promising bonus and high returns on maturity of the policies," he said.Police said the accused could take the insurance holders in their confidence, as they had confidential details of their policies with them. They frequently changed their company's name, from SBP Solutions to LICI Solutions to Nefta Solutions, etc. Police have also seized six bank accounts and some other bank data from their possession. Details suggest the accused have done transactions worth Rs 12 crore so far. They have also identified two data vendors, and launched a search for their arrest.
