GREATER NOIDA: With at least six instances of gun snatchings in the recent past, Greater Noida police is worried about a new gang which has become active in the region for the past few months.The gang, police sources said, aims only for the weapons of security guards and other gun license holders. While police is yet to make a breakthrough in these cases, victims said the gang members are most likely from the same region, as they speak in the same language."They were speaking in Dehati, and the youth I saw was quite fair in complexion," said Avdhesh Pandey , who was robbed of his double-barreled gun in Kasna on Monday morning.As many as five such crimes were committed in the last two weeks itself, while several more have been reported in the past two months.On November 12, Mithilesh, a security guard at Supertech Sports Village, Greater Noida-West, was robbed of his .315 bore rifle. He was robbed by four car-borne assailants. A case has been lodged at Surajpur police station.A few days prior to that, another guard was robbed of his .12 bore rifle in Sector Ecotech-1.In the Bisrakh area too, several such snatchings have taken place in the last two months. "We have identified the gang and are working on nabbing them. Four criminals were recently arrested after a fire exchange with police, and three more had fled. They might have a role in these robberies," said Anit Kumar, circle officer, Greater Noida-3.A police officer said the robbery of single and double-barreled guns seems strange.
