Greater Noida: The main accused in the murder case of a local BJP worker, Sagar Sharma (25), who was killed outside the party office in Dankaur late on Monday night, has been arrested. He was nabbed from Salarpur underpass on Wednesday morning.The accused, Deepak Verma (28), was absconding after the murder of Sagar in Dankaur around 11.30 pm. Verma had planned to escape from the town, but the police managed to arrest him.Love Kumar, SSP, Noida said in the morning that a team was sent near Salarpur underpass, where Verma was waiting for a vehicle to flee. "He tried to escape but the police apprehended him," he said.During questioning, Verma told police that he and Sagar were drinking together moments before the crime took place. Both of them had an argument in an inebriated condition over some issue, which infuriated him and he lost cool. Verma later called his brother Manoj and decided to kill Sagar.Police said Sagar was on way home in Dankaur with his brother Abhimanyu . The two accused riding a scooter intercepted Sagar near Durga Tent House. They asked Sagar to accompany them. The accused then took out a revolver and shot him dead. Both the accused fled from the spot after the crime.Police have found the revolver used in crime from his possession. Deepak and Manoj are cousins of BJP functionary Sonu Verma , who is contesting the municipal elections.Manoj was already arrested on Tuesday and sent to judicial custody for 14 days.
