Female constable commits suicide inside police line in Bihar's Muzaffarpur

"The deceased was a constable of Muzaffarpur district police and it was her first posting," she said. "Altogether eight women constables including the deceased were living in the room of the police line where Chanda committed suicide. Five of them had went to Sitamarhi district for duty three days back while one went to Kanti police station area . "Forced entry was made inside the room after breaking the door," sources said. Another women constable had went to police line office for some work and Chanda was left alone inside the room," sources said.They said that the door of the room was locked from inside and when two of her roommates returns around noon, they found the room locked from inside.

PATNA: A 22-years-old female police constable Chanda Rani allegedly committed suicide by hanging herself from window inside her room located at district police line in Muzaffarpur on Saturday.It is one of the rare incident in Bihar where a woman police personnel allegedly committed suicide that too inside police line.Women's police station SHO Jyoti Kumari who rushed at the spot for investigation, said that no suicide note was recovered from the spot.She said that the constable had used her scarf as noose and tied it to iron rod of the window inside the room allotted to her for committing suicide.She said that the constable was unmarried and had joined service in year 2015. "The deceased was a constable of Muzaffarpur district police and it was her first posting," she said. The SHO also said that the reason behind the incident was still unknown.Meanwhile, a senior police officer of district police said that the deceased constable was the class monitor of her batch which had finished training few months back."Altogether eight women constables including the deceased were living in the room of the police line where Chanda committed suicide. Police sources said that the deceased was native of Islampur in Nalanda district.Earlier on July 2, 2017, Sub-inspector (SI) Sanjay Kumar Gaur, a 2009 batch SI, a native of Daraul in Siwan district, had allegedly shot himself dead inside the barrack of the Panapur outpost under Kanti police station in Muzaffarpur.
