Ex finance minister and a very experienced politician from BJP Yashwant Sinha has made a shocking announcement about his decision to quit the party, ending months of rumors during which he made mocking comments against the Narendra Modi government.

He made the announcement at the opposition rally at Patna. The leader said democracy is under threat and slammed the Modi-led NDA government.

Making the announcement in Patna, Sinha said he would not be joining any political party.

Senior Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Yashwant Sinha, speaking at the event dropped the bombshell on BJP and alleged that news reports against the government are killed. “Today I am taking ‘sanyas’ from any kind of party politics, today I am ending all ties with the BJP,” he said.

Sinha, who had served as the Finance Minister the Vajpayee government, also said that the Election Commission of India is now not independent anymore. “I will sit tight when there is a crisis in the country,” he added.

The BJP leader has been at the loggerheads with the government for last few months over various issues. He had openly criticised the government over its decision to scrap Ra 500 and Rs 1,000 noted from the economy.
