PATNA: In yet another a daring incident after incident of looting police jeep in Sheohar on Friday, youths thrashed Gopalganj’s Mirganj police station SHO Mukesh Kumar and attempted to snatch his service pistol near Mirganj market area in the district on Monday when he scolded them for riding bike on wrong direction amid traffic blocked.Police sources said Kumar, a sub-inspector, along with a police team, was engaged in clearing a traffic blockade before scheduled arrival of union minister Giriraj Singh when he scolded five youths coming on two bikes from opposite direction.Kumar’s one of the junior posted at Mirganj police station, on condition of anonymity, said two of the youths who were among the attackers were Amir Imtiaz and Nadir Imtiaz, both sons of Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) Gopalganj district president Mohammad Imtiaz.He said such had become the situation that Kumar had to open fire at least three rounds from his pistol after the youths opened fired at least six rounds.The officer said one Mohammad Arshad Hussain (25), involved in the thrashing, was arrested on late Monday night. He said Hussain is a third year engineering student at a government college at Sonipat in Haryana “All five youths had left the place after being scolded but within few minutes, they returned and thrashed Kumar and tried to snatch his firearm,” he said.“Till then, Kumar’s team had moved ahead while one of his subordinate was few hundred meters behind, all completely engrossed in clearing the traffic blockade.
