Patna turns saffron as Amit Shah comes calling

PATNA: The city turned into a sea of saffron on Thursday with BJP functionaries and workers from across the state assembling here with flags and posters to welcome party’s national president Amit Shah.A large number of BJP workers welcomed Shah with garlands and flowers after he landed at Jayaprakash Narayan International Airport here around 10am. “I don’t understand why the traffic police fail to ensure smooth movement of vehicles every time VVIPs visit the city,” wondered Saurav Prasad Singh, a resident of Boring Canal Road.

Thousands of BJP workers from across the state sat for hours outside the airport building, near Eco Park, Planetarium, Gandhi Maidan and Gyan Bhawan to get a glimpse of the BJP president.Red-sari clad Nari Gunjan band members welcomed Shah at the well-decorated Gyan Bhawan.Sunil Kumar Yadav, a farmer from Vaishali, said he reached Patna around 10am and went straight to Gyan Bhawan to listen to Shah. He was accompanied by at least 2,500 people from Vaishali. “I sat for almost eight hours outside Bapu Sabhagar to hear Amitji and his vision for farmers,” he said.Vijay Singh, a trader from Saran, said, “I have seen Shah from a close distance for the first time. His words really encourage and motivate me. I have clicked some pictures and will show them to my family members.”Meanwhile, Shah’s visit affected traffic movement in various localities of the city.
