PATNA: One person was killed and a couple was injured after they were attacked in their sleep during a dacoity on the outskirts of village Nawada under Phulwarisharif police station area in city at around 2am on Tuesday.Phulwarisharif SDPO Ramakant Prasad said the deceased was identified as Ajay Vishwakarma (42), a daily wager, while the injured couple were Ajay Malakar (40) and his wife Gudiya Devi (35).“Vishwakarma was a daily wager sleeping outside the under-construction house of Malakar, a flower vendor,” Prasad said, adding, the couple’s three minor children, sleeping in another room, remained unharmed.“The injured were rushed to a nearby hospital, but Vishwakarma had already died. The couple were later referred to Patna Medical College and Hospital (PMCH) where their condition was stable,” Prasad said.He said that an Uttar Pradesh (UP) based notorious gang ‘Kachha Baniyan Giroh’ was behind the incident. Prasad said the gang attacked Vishwakarma with wooden sticks which resulted in grievous head injury.“Dacoits used stairs of another under-construction house beside Malakar’s house to gain entry. Soon after entering, the dacoits attacked couple in their sleep and later decamped with Rs 11,000 and four gold ornaments,” Prasad said.He said the dacoits were only in their inner-wears and were speaking Hindi in an accent spoken in Uttar Pradesh.“Raids were on to nab the suspects. A similar dacoity took place under Shahpur police station area at least four years back in which some persons were also injured,” SDPO Prasad said.
