Pataliputra University VC to profs Perform or perish

PATNA: Students of newly created Pataliputra University (PPU) will be able to lodge a complaint against teachers who do not turn up to engage classes. PPU’s logo and emblem along with a magazine called ‘Patali-Pragya’ will also be released on the occasion.The VC felicitated Sri Arvind Mahila College principal Poonam Chaudhary who will retire from university service this month. “A muli-purpose centre to promote human values and meditation will also be established soon. They should strive hard to create a healthy academic atmosphere in their respective institutions,” he asserted and appealed to the students to complete their assignments sincerely.The VC announced that an international conference on the growth and development of Hindi language and literature would soon be organized by the university. I will donate a sum of Rs 10,000 per month from my salary for the establishment of this proposed centre,” he said.Jaiswal claimed that chief minister Nitish Kumar would inaugurate the new university at the S K Memorial Hall on July 30.

The university has created a provision to this effect on its website, said vice-chancellor Gulab Chand Ram Jaiswal on Saturday.Delivering the presidential address at the inaugural session of a two-day ‘North-Eastern and Northern Regional Writers’ Meet’ jointly organized by Sahitya Akademi and Sri Arvind Mahila College, the VC said a policy of “perform or perish” would be adopted and the university would not tolerate any laxity on the part of teachers.“If teachers do not perform their primary duties even after getting a fat pay package and students are made to suffer, they must be ready to quit.
