Schools colleges celebrate IDay with fervour

They carried placards and posters with the messages like ‘Clean India, green India’ and ‘Say no to plastics’. Students presented march past which was followed by patriotic songs and dances. It was followed by a parade of NCC cadets of school and patriotic song “Hamein jo mila hai…’ by school choir. A mime on freedom fighters was presented by the students.A skit highlighting the nation’s problems and freedom rights was beautifully performed by the students.

PATNA: The 72nd Independence Day was celebrated amid several programmes at different educational institutions in the city on Wednesday.The NSS volunteers of Patna Women’s College celebrated the day by organising a ‘Swachhta Pakhwara’ and forming a human chain outside the college campus. They carried placards and posters with the messages like ‘Clean India, green India’ and ‘Say no to plastics’. A cultural programme was also organized by the political science department on the occasion. The programme commenced with patriotic song followed by dance-drama presentation on ‘Gandhi’s vision for India’. A mime on freedom fighters was presented by the students.A skit highlighting the nation’s problems and freedom rights was beautifully performed by the students. College principal Sr Marie Jessie AC and political science head Shefali Roy appreciated the students’ performances.Arya, a Class X student of Litera Valley School, mesmerized the audience with her violin performance on patriotic songs. Tiny tots of the school’s Montessori wing staged an act on freedom fighters. ‘Aye mere watan ke logon’, a patriotic song sung by Class VIII student Pratul Aryan, kept the audience spellbound. In patriotic dance competition, Prithvi House bagged the winner’s trophy. School principal Sharat Kumar Singh hoisted the flag and distributed the awards and certificates to winners.The Usha Martin World School campus was drenched in patriotism as the students presented rich heritage of Indian culture through music and dance. On this occasion, students showed taekwondo skill and formed human pyramid on national integrity. The school also honoured the newly elected school council members with sashes and badges. Ankur Singh and Ishika Sinha took oath as the head boy and head girl of the school respectively. Rohit Kumar took charge as captain of Ashok House, Sourav Mandal as captain of Buddha House, Aditya Singh as captain of Chanakya House and Kumar Chetan Anand as captain of Mahavira House.At Leeds International School, the tri-colour was hoisted by school chairman Rameshwar Singh. Students presented march past which was followed by patriotic songs and dances. Students also presented a skit on freedom fighters. School principal Bijay Kumar Sahu motivated students to be a responsible citizen.Students of Open Minds A Birla School took out an awareness rally on Gola Road under the supervision of school principal Shouwika Yadav to promote ‘Clean India, green India’ and ‘Beti bachao, beti padhao’ initiatives of the government.At Gyan Niketan Boys School, head boy Himanshu Ranjan gave a speech on national integrity and role of freedom fighters in making the country independent. It was followed by a parade of NCC cadets of school and patriotic song “Hamein jo mila hai…’ by school choir. School principal J K Mukherjee, vice-principal S M Jha and administrator Anita Kunal were present.Meanwhile, painted in red, white and green, students of College of Arts and Crafts took out a rally from college premises to Patna Museum in a bid to promote brotherhood and cleanliness. Students portrayed a play on ‘Shaheed’, when seven young men sacrificed their lives during Quit India Movement. They also carried out a ‘jhanki’ made of clay highlighting the village culture and rural India.
