Extortion call to doc came from Nepal number

Rohtagi is also associated with a private hospital in the area.An FIR was registered with the Patliputra Colony police station by Rohtagi in connection with the incident soon after he had received the call.On Tuesday, Patna SSP Manu Maharaaj when asked, said that the number from which call was made, is a Nepalese cellphone number and investigation were in connection with the incident.“It was a 13 digit cellphone number. Police were taking technical assistance from various sources to ascertain that from which location the call had originated,” he said adding local police station has been alerted to remain vigilant and increase patrol around the doctor’s residence and hospital where he works.Sources said that either call was made from Nepal or someone might had used a Nepalese SIM card from anywhere in India to make the call to the doctor to evade tracing by police.“Only after getting details of call detail record (CDR) and tower location of the caller at the time of call, police would be able to get further lead in the investigation to nab the accused persons,” an officer said.Meanwhile, Rohtagi, while talking to TOI over phone, said that the caller intimidated him by saying that he was earning too much.“Bahut kama rahe ho.. Rs 4 crore dena hoga (You are earning too much. You would have to give Rs 4 crore extortion). These are the only things the caller said and disconnected the phone saying that he would ring back in ten minutes. However he did not rang again,” Rohtagi said adding the hospital administration had provided a private guard for security at his residence.Quoting police. Rohtagi said they have assured him that things would become clear in next three to four days.
