ARA: Sixteen persons, including an RJD activist, have been arrested and eight policemen suspended in connection with naked parade of a woman at Bihiya in Bhojpur district on Monday.The small town, situated around 22km west of Ara, witnessed large scale violence on Monday after the body of a teenager, Bimlesh Sah, was recovered from a red light area. Protesting the murder, an irate mob set ablaze several shops and indulged in stone pelting. Suspecting the woman’s involvement in the murder, the mob dragged the woman out on street, ripped off her clothes and paraded her naked while kicking and slapping her and hurling abuses.Bhojpur SP Avakash Kumar said police have so far arrested 16 persons in connection with the case and three separate FIRs have been lodged at Bihiya police station.“While Bimlesh’s uncle has lodged an FIR against some unknown persons for the murder of his nephew, the second FIR has been lodged against unknown persons by the woman, who was paraded naked. The third FIR, on the other hand, was lodged by the police against those who deliberately damaged government and private properties,” the SP said.The arrested RJD activist has been identified as Kaushal Kishore Yadav, who was allegedly leading the mob. However, Siya Ram Yadav, the Bihiya block president of RJD, has denied the involvement of any of his party worker in the violence.The SP said eight policemen, including the SHO of Bihiya police station and inspector incharge of GRP police station, have been suspended.The new SHO of Bihiya police station, Dhananjay Kumar, said the situation was under control in the town. Bhojpur DM Sanjeev Kumar also visited Bihiya on Tuesday to take stock of the situation.
