Want firm and fast action against criminals CM

PATNA: Facing criticism over the law and order issue in the state, chief minister Nitish Kumar on Wednesday asked the top police officers to take stern and fast action against the criminals. He also ordered for a weekly review of land dispute cases by the circle officers with the station house officers (SHOs) of police stations concerned. “It has been often seen that cases related to land disputes result in violence and crime,” he said. He told the police officers to list the requirement of vehicles and asked them to analyse not only the number but also the nature of crime. He also said policemen would not only be suspended but criminal cases would be lodged against them if they there was direct evidence of taking bribe against them.

He said 60% of the cases in the state were found to be related to land disputes.Addressing a presser after the CM’s review meeting on the law and order issue, principal secretary (home) Amir Subhani said the meeting to resolve land dispute cases would be held every Saturday. “It has been often seen that cases related to land disputes result in violence and crime,” he said. All zonal IGs, range DIGs, DMs, SPs and officials of home department and police headquarters were present in the CM’s review meeting through videoconferencing.The CM also expressed concern over the attack on policemen by sand and land mafia and antisocial elements. He told the police officers to list the requirement of vehicles and asked them to analyse not only the number but also the nature of crime. The CM also asked them to ensure timely FSL reports in criminal cases.Subhani said there would be a separate place for the visitors at police stations with drinking water, fan and newspaper facilities.He said all the police stations would be continuously monitored for execution of pending warrants issued from courts, arresting of accused and cases pending for investigation since long. He said the DGP and all field officers have been directed to investigate the pending cases on priority basis.“Altogether 100 police stations were marked as poor and action against 353 police personnel and officers posted at such police stations were taken after they failed to improve the law and order situation under their respective jurisdiction,” Subhani said. He also said policemen would not only be suspended but criminal cases would be lodged against them if they there was direct evidence of taking bribe against them.
