Govt Contract staff to have uniform service conditions

PATNA: The state cabinet on Thursday approved uniform service conditions for the contractual staff working in various departments, except the data entry operators from Beltron.This was in consonance with the cabinet’s approval to the recommendations made by a high-level committee headed by former chief secretary Ashok Sinha.Principal secretary (cabinet secretariat) Sanjay Kumar said the performance of the contractual staff would also be annually assessed. They will be released in three phases – on October 2 this year, on April 6 next year and on October 2 next year. The merit list will now be prepared on the basis of the marks fetched in the written examinations conducted by the Technical Services Commission.In pursuance of the Supreme Court’s order, the cabinet cleared a proposal for compensation to lynch mob victims. It will now become the ‘environment, forest and climate change’ department.As part of the 150th birth anniversary celebrations of Mahatma Gandhi next year, the state government will give remission in punishment to women and inmates above 60 years of age. Further, the contractual staff not needed by their parent department after a certain period can be adjusted in another department.As for the data entry operators, Kumar said, the departments concerned have been asked to review their cases and report to the committee for consideration of their terms and conditions.The cabinet also approved a proposal to do away with the interview of the candidates after they clear examinations for appointment on the posts of medical officer, assistant engineer and veterinary doctor.

While the overall compensation to the next kin of a person lynched by a mob would be Rs 3 lakh, a sum of Rs 1 lakh of this would be paid as interim compensation within a month of the incident and the balance after the resolution of the case by fast track court.A seriously injured person rendered unemployable will now get a compensation of Rs 2 lakh, and an injured person Rs 25,000.The cabinet also approved change in the name of environment and forest department.
