PU Fulltime teachers for selffinancing courses soon

They will be paid their honorarium from the internal resources of the respective self-financing courses at the rate approved by the state government (Rs 25,000 per month). The university will follow reservation roster in these ad hoc appointments as per government rules.“The appointment of teachers will be made by duly constituted selection committees with subject experts. All these guest teachers appointed on ad hoc basis will be given an honorarium at the rate of Rs 1,000 per class subject to a maximum of Rs 25,000 every month. PATNA: Patna University (PU) will soon appoint full-time temporary teachers in all its self-financing courses running at the undergraduate and postgraduate levels.The decision was taken at a meeting of the directors and coordinators of all self-financing courses held under the chairmanship of vice-chancellor (VC) Rash Bihari Prasad Singh on Thursday.According to sources, a minimum of one and a maximum of three such teachers will be appointed in each course depending upon the need and strength of students. Besides, they will stay in their respective departments at least for four hours a day for engaging classes and guiding students.

The appointments will be made through a proper channel as per the qualifications prescribed by the University Grants Commission and in accordance with the reservation roaster. They will be paid their honorarium from the internal resources of the respective self-financing courses at the rate approved by the state government (Rs 25,000 per month). Besides, they will stay in their respective departments at least for four hours a day for engaging classes and guiding students. An advertisement inviting applications from eligible candidates will be issued soon.“Modalities of appointment of non-teaching staff in these self-financing courses will be decided later,” the VC told this newspaper.Meanwhile, PU has also initiated steps for the appointment of altogether 114 teachers in different subjects against the existing vacancies on an ad hoc basis till regular appointments are made by the proposed university service commission. An advertisement for ad hoc appointments will be issued by PU soon.The eligibility of candidates will also be the same as prescribed by the Bihar Public Service Commission in the ongoing appointment of assistant professors or as per the minimum qualifications prescribed by the UGC. The university will follow reservation roster in these ad hoc appointments as per government rules.“The appointment of teachers will be made by duly constituted selection committees with subject experts. There will be no compromise with merit. All these guest teachers appointed on ad hoc basis will be given an honorarium at the rate of Rs 1,000 per class subject to a maximum of Rs 25,000 every month. This rate has been worked out by the state government,” the VC said.
