PATNA: The railways on Friday installed a bottle crusher machine on platform number 1 at Patna Junction . “About one lakh passengers visit Patna Junction everyday either to board trains or alight from them,” he said, adding the bottle crusher machine would help in keeping tracks, coaches and platforms clean.The DRM said the bottle crusher machine, which has cost railways about Rs 3,84,680, is fitted with the latest sensor technology. “The railways also intends to give incentives to passengers who prefer to insert empty mineral water bottles inside the crushing machine from September 20 onwards,” the DRM added.The bottle crusher machine is fitted with an interactive touch screen display system. East Central Railway general manager L C Trivedi is likely to inaugurate the newly installed machine on Saturday under the Centre’s ‘Swachh Bharat Abhiyan’.Danapur divisional railway manager (DRM) Ranjan Prakash Thakur said the machine had been installed at Patna Junction keeping in mind huge footfall of passengers. The railways has hired a staff to handle the machine.
