Purnea University OKs 94 proposals

PATNA: The first Syndicate meeting of newly created Purnea University on Sunday unanimously passed 94 proposals, including the ones earlier approved by the varsity’s academic council.VC Prof Rajesh Singh, who chaired the Syndicate meet, told TOI on Tuesday the meeting approved 60 new courses to be introduced from the next academic session. It also approved the recommendation of the S B Sinha Commission in connection with the reinstatement of 22 retrenched teachers.The VC said the Syndicate also gave its go-ahead to the varsity to engage at least 292 guest faculty teachers in different streams as per the Raj Bhavan directive for running classes smoothly at PG departments and constituent colleges. It approved a proposal to pay Rs 12,000 each per month to class III non-teaching employees and Rs 10,000 each to class IV employees, the VC said and added these outsourced employees were not getting payments since the new university was carved out of Madhepura-headquartered B N Mandal University in March.Earlier, the chancellor’s nominee and syndicate member Dilip Kumar Jaiswal lauded the efforts of the VC and assured him full cooperation from all Syndicate members in running the university.University registrar Col (retd) Pramod Kumar tabled the proposals at the meeting which was also attended by Pawan Kumar Jha, Anjani Kumar Mishra, A K Singh, Sanjay Kumar Singh, Shabbir Hussain and Mandira Dutt.
