BIHARSHARIF: A 35-year-old married man raped a four-year-old girl in a village under the Chandi police station area in Nalanda district late Sunday evening.Police sources said Sanjay Manjhi took the minor to a paddy field around 7.30pm on Sunday and raped her. Villagers rushed towards the field on hearing her screams and caught the accused. The victim, who fell unconscious, was taken to the Chandi primary health centre (PHC) and later shifted to Biharsharif sadar hospital. She was bleeding profusely.The accused was thrashed by the villagers and handed over to the police. Later, he was also admitted to Biharsharif sadar hospital before police sent him to jail on Monday.A police officer at Biharsharif Mahila thana said the victim is in trauma but her condition is stable. “Her medical examination will be conducted and the statement recorded under Section 164 of CrPC once she recovers,” the officer said.Hardly a week back, a pregnant woman under the neighbouring Noorsarai police station area had accused an elderly person of raping her. The accused was sent to jail.On August 3, a 13-year-old rape victim of Biharsharif died following termination of pregnancy at a quack’s clinic. The accused, a distant cousin of the deceased, was sent to jail.
