PATNA: A book titled ‘Lalu Leela’, penned by deputy CM Sushil Kumar Modi , was released here on Thursday. The book highlights how RJD chief Lalu Prasad and his family allegedly amassed properties through illegal means when they were in power.Several Union ministers, including Ravi Shankar Prasad, Giriraj Singh, Radha Mohan Singh and Ram Kripal Yadav, attended the event. The preface of the book has been penned by IT minister Prasad, in which he has stated that the change of government in Bihar in July last year was a result of “tireless efforts” by Sushil Kumar Modi. The 200-page book is primarily a compilation of over 40 press conferences held by Modi from April to July last year, in which he highlighted a number of benami deals and shell companies associated with Lalu family. The book also has blurbs from Union ministers Arun Jaitley and Nitin Gadkari , who have praised Modi for revealing the saga of corruption associated with Lalu family.Speaking on the occasion, the deputy CM said Lalu always followed the mantra of ‘Tum mujhe zameen do, main tumhara kaam karunga (You give me your land and I will get your work done)”.Modi claimed the Lalu family amassed 141 plots, 30 flats and six houses through benami deals between 2000 and 2005 when Lalu’s wife Rabri Devi was Bihar CM and between 2004 and 2009 when Lalu was railway minister.“I have known Lalu ji for 47 years now and he has been a strong leader. However, he started duping common people, government and politicians on the name of social justice soon after coming to power. He has become the biggest landlord of Bihar and left behind even Robert Vadra in doing scams and illegally amassing properties. Today he is in jail because of his own deeds,” Modi said.He added Lalu was dishonest even in distributing the benami properties among his sons as he gave 45 plots to younger son Tejashwi Prasad Yadav and just 26 to elder son Tej Pratap Yadav.Union minister of state (independent charge) for micro, small and medium enterprises Giriraj Singh said few more pages could have been added to the book had Modi met Ram Kripal and MLC Nawal Kishor Yadav earlier. Ram Kripal and Nawal Kishor were earlier in the RJD and joined BJP later.Reacting on the book release, RJD functionaries said Modi always used the name of Lalu to gain political mileage. “Lalu is like a fuel to Modi, which he needs to get recharged whenever he sees his political future in bleak,” RJD Rajya Sabha MP and national spokesperson Manoj Jha said.
