Assault on AIIMS docs: FIR against Kanhaiya

It is clear that Kanhaiya misbehaved with our doctors and he will face consequences.” "They even snatched the mobile phone of the intern and beat up the security guard," he said.Soon after the incident, one of the doctors of AIIMS- Patna posted on his Facebook page, "#STOP VIOLENCE AGAINST DOCTORS. We the doctors of AIIMS- Patna have been attacked by a group of goons of around 100 people lead by anti-national leader #KANHAIYA KUMAR, when some local leader got admitted in our orthopedic ward, whose relatives were continuously misbehaving with our staff and interns.

PATNA: An FIR was lodged by AIIMS- Patna administration against former JNU Students Union president Kanhaiya Kumar and around 100 others for manhandling doctors and causing obstruction to work at the hospital. Phulwarisharif police station SHO Md Qaiser Alam confirmed that the FIR was registered on Monday over an incident at AIIMS- Patna on Sunday evening.According to sources, the incident occurred on Sunday evening around 7pm, when Kanhaiya went to see Sushil Kumar, president of All India Students Federation (AISF), who was admitted at the orthopedics department at AIIMS- Patna for past few days and was operated on October 10.It has been alleged that Kanhaiya, his supporters and AISF members manhandled and misbehaved with the AIIMS intern Avinash Pandey and a security guard deployed at the orthopedic department.Senior resident doctors of AIIMS- Patna on Monday staged protest against Kanhaiya and his supporters for manhandling and threatening the doctor and the security guard.The Resident Doctors’ Association AIIMS Patna, Dr Vinay Singh told this newspaper on Monday that the intern Avinash asked Kanhaiya and his supporters not to crowd the ward but instead he started abusing and threatening the intern and the guard. "They even snatched the mobile phone of the intern and beat up the security guard," he said.Soon after the incident, one of the doctors of AIIMS- Patna posted on his Facebook page, "#STOP VIOLENCE AGAINST DOCTORS. We are really horrified and traumatized by the event."The post further says, "We request government of India to provide us with adequate security, so that such incidents don't occur in future."Angry over the incident, the AIIMS Patna doctors submitted list of demand to the medical superintendent Sr Sudesh Kumar, urging him to provide 24X7 armed security guard forces in all wards, one patient and two attendant system and installation of more CCTV cameras at hospital premises. They also demanded the arrest of the accused.A senior resident of gynecology department said if the hospital administration failed to fulfill the demands, they will stage indefinite strike.AISF president Sushil Kumar, however, said the doctors have been targeting him from day one and were also trying to malign Kanhaiya’s name. “The doctors were indifferent towards us and they always nagged about something. Last evening, when Kanhaiya came to see me, they rudely asked him and others to leave. Later they turned abusive and threatened that they will throw us out. They even snatched the mobile phone of one of the AISF members,” he said.Meanwhile, health minister Mangal Pandey said he asked AIIMS Patna director to submit a report about the incident and assured that strict action will be taken against persons who misbehaved with AIIMS Patna doctors. He also warned Kanhaiya for his alleged behavior and said, “Violence will not be tolerated in Bihar and he should know that it is not JNU. It is clear that Kanhaiya misbehaved with our doctors and he will face consequences.”
