ED attaches Baccha Rai’s assets worth Rs 10 crore

The students of that college were declared toppers after taking huge amount of money from them. “Though the government rate of all these properties is around Rs3 crore, the market rate is above Rs10 crore,” ED sources said.Now, the ED is likely to attach the properties of former Bihar School Examination Board (BSEB) chairman Lalkeshwar Prasad Singh and his wife and former JD(U) legislator Usha Sinha in the infamous topper scam of 2016. Later, it turned out to be a huge scam involving many Intermediate colleges affiliated to the BSEB.“We have gathered details of several immovable properties in the name of Lalkeshwar in Bihar and other states.

PATNA: The Enforcement Directorate (ED) attached 28 properties worth about Rs10 crore of Intermediate topper scam alleged kingpin Amit Kumar alias Baccha Rai in Vaishali on Monday.“Investigation is on in connection with the property amassed by his family members, including wife Sangeeta Rai, father Rajdev Rai and brother Jitendra Rai and also in the name of the trust run by him,” source said, adding the attached properties include Rs2 crore in fixed deposits and bank accounts. “Though the government rate of all these properties is around Rs3 crore, the market rate is above Rs10 crore,” ED sources said.Now, the ED is likely to attach the properties of former Bihar School Examination Board (BSEB) chairman Lalkeshwar Prasad Singh and his wife and former JD(U) legislator Usha Sinha in the infamous topper scam of 2016. These include some flats in the National Capital Region (NCR),” sources said.The Monday attachments were made on ED’s appellate authority nod on strong evidence that these properties were amassed from the scam proceeds.“Baccha is paying Rs20,000 rent to ED for a flat at Mainpura in Patna and a house at Saraikela in Jharkhand on the ground of his wife’s illness,” ED sources added.
