Patnaites get drenched in Puja colours

PATNA: The state capital is drenched in festive colours as thousands of people thronged Puja pandals in different localities on Tuesday to offer prayers to Goddess Durga.Not only common people, but politicians also visited various Puja pandals to pay obeisance to Goddess Durga. he also extended his greetings to the people of Bihar on Durga Puja and Dussehra festival. Governor Lalji Tandon greeted people on Durga Puja and Dussehra.Chief minister Nitish Kumar visited the pandals at Khajpura, Sheikhpura and Dak Bungalow roundabout and offered prayers. So, I avoided Dak Bungalow and took the Station Road route to reach Anisabad.” He also appealed to people to celebrate the festival peacefully and with a sense of brotherhood.The puja pandals at Dak Bungalow, Raja Bazar, Nala Road, Khajpura, Ashok Rajpath, Boring Road and Boring Canal Road witnessed a huge rush of revellers.

He also appealed to people to celebrate the festival peacefully and with a sense of brotherhood.The puja pandals at Dak Bungalow, Raja Bazar, Nala Road, Khajpura, Ashok Rajpath, Boring Road and Boring Canal Road witnessed a huge rush of revellers. Vehicles had to follow a new traffic plan chalked out by the city traffic police for the last three days of Navaratra. Dak Bungalow Road, Raja Bazar and Boring Canal Road among others were made walking plaza with complete restriction on the entry of vehicles.Rajkumar Singh of Khazanchi Road, who was spotted near Dak Bungalow pandal in the evening, said: “Our family visited different pandals after curtains lifted on Saptami to pay obeisance to Goddess Durga. After offering prayers here, we will go to other famous pandals. We will also visit Gandhi Maidan on Friday to see Ravan Vadh.”Another pandal hopper, Pankaj Mishra from Raja Bazar, said: “I came along with my two cousins to seek the blessings of Goddess Durga. We will visit different pandals in the city till midnight and will return on Wednesday and Thursday as well. The pandals are beautifully decorated.”Pandal hopping apart, regular commuters and office goers avoided main routes to reach their destinations in the wake of changed traffic plans enforced from Tuesday till Friday. People who wanted to reach Fraser Road, Boring Road, Ashok Rajpath and Patna City used alternative routes to reach their destinations.Besides other areas in the city, R-Block, Station Road, Bailey Road and Exhibition Road witnessed heavy rush of commuters leading to traffic snarls. The vehicles passing through these roads increased manifold in the wake of changed traffic plans for people to enjoy pandal hopping during the festival.Ravi Kumar of S P Verma Road said: “The roads are full of pandal hoppers. So, I avoided Dak Bungalow and took the Station Road route to reach Anisabad.”
