PATNA: Two unidentified armed bike borne criminals shot at one Shambu Prasad alias Pappu (32) during morning walk near Makhdumpur middle school under Neora outpost of Bihta police station in Patna Wednesday.Neora outpost in-charge Prashant Kumar said Prasad was working as a contractual employee under scheme of Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act and was posted at Sandesh in Bhojpur.He said that Prasad had left his residence at Goria Dera village had gone for a morning walk when he spotted two persons on a bike waiting on the sides of road.“Failing to understand their motive, he kept walking ahead. As soon as he reached near them, one of the criminals opened fire from a very close range which hit Prasad on his waist after which he started running,” Kumar said.“While injured Prasad contained to run in injured condition till a safe distance, the two criminals fled from spot,” Kumar said. He said that the victim was later rushed to a nearby hospital for treatment by villagers from where he as further shifted to another private hospital near Saguna Mor.The police officer said that an FIR was lodged against unknown persons on basis of the statement recorded by the victim.“Nothing is clear yet that why he was shot at. The criminals had kept their faces covered with clothes. Police were trying to identify them with help of footages of CCTV cameras installed at few points,” he said.On Sunday, a chargesheeted criminal Sooraj Yadav alias Chotan Singh was first attacked with bricks and then shot dead by five criminals at Rampur under Bahadurpur police station area in Patna. Earlier on Saturday night, Dipu Sao and Bittu Kumar, both having criminal antecedents were shot dead under Khajekala and Naubatppur police station area respectively.None of the assailants were arrested yet all three murder cases.
