PATNA: The CPI has petitioned the state DGP and principal secretary (home), demanding that the security of former JNUSU president Kanhaiya Kumar be beefed up.Senior CPI functionaries Ram Naresh Pandey and Jabbar Alam on Wednesday said "motivated and pre-planned" attacks were being made on Kanhaiya Kumar by BJYM, RSS and Bajrang Dal elements."State health minister Mangal Pandey called Kanhaiya an 'upadravi' (one who creates disturbances)," Ram Naresh, who is CPI national executive committee member, said and added the minister's "inflammatory" statement was also responsible for violence against Kanhaiya near Bhagwanpur in Begusarai district on Tuesday evening.The health minister's statement followed reports of alleged "misbehaviour" of Kanhaiya with doctors at AIIMS in Patna on Sunday when he was visiting ailing state AISF secretary Sushil Kumar. "Kanhaiya Kumar should know that Bihar is not JNU. It is clear that he misbehaved with our doctors and he will face consequences for it," the minister had said on Monday.Kanhaiya Kumar is in the state since October 9, mobilising support for a CPI rally at Patna on October 25. He has addressed public meetings of dalits in the company of Gujarat MLA Jignesh Mewani. He is likely to contest the 2019 Lok Sabha election from Begusarai.Kanhaiya has so far faced violence at Rahimpur (Khagaria) on October 13, AIIMS-Patna on October 14 and near Bhagwanpur (Begusarai) on October 16.He is slated to hold road shows in Patna on October 22 and 23 before addressing the rally on October 25.
