PATNA: The East Central Railway (ECR) has decided to make no compromise with the security of women travelling from trains during the post-Chhath period.According to Danapur DRM Ranjan Prakash Thakur, ‘May I Help You’ booths have been made functional at overcrowded stations like the Patna Junction, Rajendra Nagar Terminal and Pataliputra Junction. A cell has also been set up at the ECR headquarters to monitor the security arrangements.The railways has deployed 36 women constables, headed by six sub-inspectors, at the Patna Junction and Rajendra Nagar Terminal to ensure foolproof security. “Women RPF personnel are not letting unauthorized passengers travel in reserved coaches. Anyone, who is in trouble, can call on 09771425718 or 182 for help,” Danapur RPF commandant C M Mishra said.The women constables have been asked to remain alert on duty and keep a close watch on all passengers. They are also helping passengers board different trains comfortably. Mishra said, “Women commuters are being asked to stand in queues to board unreserved coaches. Security personnel in mufti are also travelling in different trains. They are also urging women passengers not to accept snacks or tea from unknown people during their journey. Luckily, no case of passengers being drugged on trains was reported in the division during the festive period.”The railways has also made arrangements for safe drinking water and electricity at the Patna Junction and Rajendra Nagar Terminal.
