CM inspects solar plants in W Champaran villages

PATNA: CM Nitish Kumar on Wednesday made an on-the-spot inspection of two solar power plants at Champapur and Radhiya villages in West Champaran district A 20kW solar mini grid plant has been installed at Champapur to provide power connection to all households under the Har Ghar Bijli Yojana. He also distributed cheques among the beneficiaries of the Village Transport Scheme and the Student Credit Card Scheme.Nitish, later, visited Radhiya and inspected the functioning of a 10kW solar power plant. He also inquired about the other problems of the villagers.After Champapur, the CM went to the Government Primary School at Champapur-Don and inspected a stall of agricultural equipment. A total of 121 families in the village have been provided power connection from the grid.CM visited the houses of Etwaria Devi, Gorakh Oraon, Chandi Oraon, Parashnath Oraon and a few others to himself verify the availability of power in their homes. He also launched a separate agriculture feeder there by distributing papers to providing connection to the farmers.

He also visited the house of Bhoop Narayan Mahto to verify the electricity connection.The CM said those entrusted with the responsibility to install solar power plants in the villages would also ensure their maintenance for the next five years.The CM also said he had been receiving grievances from people that the LED bulbs being distributed among them were getting fused in a very short period. “But, it is a matter of national level,” he said.Nitish also told reporters that he had advised the departments concerned to take necessary steps to install solar plants in all residential schools for SCs/STs and EBCs so that people could be made more aware about solar energy.He said the power distribution company officials had been asked to install solar street lights on each electric pole in the villages.
