Sushil Kumar Modi holds preBudget meeting

While the 14th Finance Commission had allotted Rs 14,649 crore for the panchayati raj bodies, the fifth state finance commission had made an additional allocation of Rs 8,207 crore. PATNA: Deputy chief minister Sushil Kumar Modi while addressing representatives of panchayati raj and urban local bodies at a pre-budget consultative exercise on Thursday said the process to fill up the technical and other posts at the panchayats and urban local bodies has already started.The deputy CM said that there has been substantial increase in the allocations made by the 14th Finance Commission as compared to the 13th Finance Commission. He said the allowances for elected representatives of panchayati raj and urban local bodies had been increased by 25% in 2015, besides providing for a payment of Rs 5 lakh from October 1 last year in case of accidental death of any of them. Similarly, the 14th Finance Commisssion allocated Rs 1,857 crore for the urban local bodies, while the allocation made by the fifth state finance commission for them was Rs 2,229 crore.Modi said 1,050 panchayat bhavans had been constructed at a cost of Rs 1 crore each, and 250 others are under construction.
