Rs 7 lakh looted from bankrsquos doorstep service centre

PATNA: Unidentified criminals looted Rs 7 lakh from a doorstep service centre of Bandhan Bank at Jayprakash Nagar under the Rajiv Nagar police station area around 3.15pm on Thursday.According to police sources, seven motorcycle-borne armed criminals entered the bank covering their faces and looted the money from the cash box at gunpoint. In other incidents, Rs 10 lakh each was stolen from SBI and Canara Bank ATMs at Alamganj and Kadamkuan, respectively. The robbers first targeted the SBI ATM in front of Jakkanpura police station and decamped with Rs 6 lakh by cutting the machine. Six bank employees were present at the centre when the incident occurred.City SP (central) Amamrkesh D, who visited the spot along with SHO of Rajiv Nagar police station, said, “The criminals barged into the doorstep service centre of the bank waving their pistols and looted Rs 7 lakh at gunpoint. The thieves also decamped with Rs 5 lakh from an SBI ATM at Shahganj under the Sultanganj police station area in the city.City SP (east) Rajendra said raids were on to arrest the criminals.

Before decamping with the money, the robbers smashed the closed-circuit television cameras,” the city SP said.He added a case was registered at Rajiv Nagar police station in connection with the incident and efforts were on to arrest the criminals. “Police are conducting raids to nab the criminals. We will scan the footages of CCTV cameras installed outside the bank branch,” Amarkesh added.Patna SSP Garima Malik said a special investigation team had been set up under city SP (east) Rajendra Kumar Bheel to investigate the case.Earlier, unidentified criminals decamped with around Rs 36 lakh from four ATMs in the city on the intervening night of Tuesday and Wednesday. The robbers first targeted the SBI ATM in front of Jakkanpura police station and decamped with Rs 6 lakh by cutting the machine. In other incidents, Rs 10 lakh each was stolen from SBI and Canara Bank ATMs at Alamganj and Kadamkuan, respectively.
