Students, staff & cops take part in mock drill

PATNA: The 9th battalion of National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) in association with Bihar State Disaster Management Authority (BSDMA) conducted a mock drill at Nalanda Medical College and Hospital on Friday as part of the ‘Earthquake Safety Week’ being observed by the state government from January 15 to 21. NDRF and BSDMA are to conduct various awareness programmes on earthquake safety at various places.Hospital staff, students, police constables, traffic police, fire services and home guards as well as patients and public participated in the mock drill at NMCH.Addressing the gathering, BSDMA member Uday Kant Mishra said such mock drill should be conducted regularly to prevent the loss and damage in case of real disaster. Thereafter, evacuation drill was carried out. All persons were evacuated in the assembly area as per the emergency evacuation plan. Trapped ‘victims’ were safely evacuated by search and rescue team of the hospital.Various response teams, such as emergency alarm, evacuation, search and rescue, medical first aid, firefighting, site security, transport management committee and media management committee have been formed in the hospital to respond promptly as per their assigned tasks.
