Cong gears up for February 3 rally in Patna

PATNA: Bihar Pradesh Congress Committee (BPCC) chief Madan Mohan Jha on Saturday said he would hold a meeting with the party’s district observers at Sadaquat Ashram here on Monday to discuss issues related to Congress president Rahul Gandhi’s proposed rally in Patna.Gandhi is scheduled to address a ‘Jan Akanksha Rally’ of the party at Patna’s Gandhi Maidan on February 3. Verma said around 400 lawyers from across the state attended the meeting, which was presided over by the law and human rights department’s president Ashutosh Ranjan Pandey.Verma said it was decided at the meeting that office-bearers of the law and human rights department would soon visit different districts and urge the lawyers to reach the state capital on February 3 to participate in the rally. Senior opposition leaders from across the country would also be invited to address the rally.The state Congress on Friday appointed 95 district-level observers, two or three in each district, to strengthen the organisation and ensure participation of maximum number of people from each of the Congress 40 organisational districts in Bihar.“The district observers will be briefed about their responsibilities during the January 21 meeting,” BPCC media incharge H K Verma told TOI on Saturday.A meeting of the BPCC’s law and human rights department was also held at the state Congress office Sadaquat Ashram here on Saturday.
