“We hope the BPSC will now expedite the recruitment process,” he said. PATNA: Chief minister (CM) Nitish Kumar on Saturday said the state government would allow recruitment of graduate engineers through Bihar Public Service Commission BPSC ) instead of the Bihar Technical Service Commission (BTSC).“The state government had decided to appoint engineers through the BTSC only to make the recruitment process faster. However, we have no problem if the graduate engineers want their recruitment through the BPSC,” the CM said while addressing an event of the rural works department here.In July 2018, the state government had upgraded the existing Bihar Technical Employees Selection Commission (BTESC) as the BTSC through a legislation and decided to recruit doctors, graduate engineers and veterinary doctors through the new recruiting body. However, the Bihar Engineering Services Association (BESA), a union of graduate engineers, opposed the state government’s move and demanded their recruitment through the BPSC, as was the practice earlier.“We had launched an indefinite strike on February 6. However, the agitation was called off on February 8 after fruitful talks with chief secretary Deepak Kumar,” BESA president Ajay Kumar Sinha told TOI over the phone on Saturday.Welcoming the CM’s announcement, Sinha hoped that the state government would soon bring out a notification or circular for restoring the recruitment process through the BPSC.The CM, however, didn’t clarify the government’s stand on recruitment of doctors and veterinary doctors.Sinha said around 3,000 posts of graduate engineers are currently lying vacant in various departments of the state government.
