GAYA: Gaya now gets a 176-bed super specialty hospital. The departments covered by the super specialty project include, neurology, neuro surgery, cardiac therapeutic vascular surgery , nephrology and neonatology Asked whether specialists are available in the college to man the super specialty hospital, the principal said that fresh recruitments would be made to man super specialty positions. Lives that could be saved with timely medical intervention at the trauma centre were being lost, say the road safety accidents. “There was some imbalance in sanctioned posts in different departments and this imbalance would be corrected,” said the principal.About the trauma centre, the principal said that the trauma centre fell in the domain of hospital superintendent. Demanding early establishment of the trauma centre, Yuva Prayas, activists of the civil group working in the field of road safety say that in the absence of a properly equipped trauma centre, number of deaths in road accidents was on the higher side.

GAYA: Gaya now gets a 176-bed super specialty hospital. The ground work has already been done and the ambitious Rs 200 crore project foundation stone was formally laid by PM Narendra Modi during his Bihar visit on 17 February. According to sources, earth work, layout and piling etc has already been done in anticipation of the formal foundation laying ceremony.“The work, initially scheduled to begin in July’2018, got off a few months later due to procedural reasons including map approval and project details. All these formalities have now been completed and work is under progress,” said college principal Dr HG Agrawal.Asked about the time line of the project, the principal said that earlier, the work was scheduled to be completed in 19 months beginning July’18. Now it may take a little longer. All efforts are being made to complete the job at the earliest. Refusing to give a deadline, the principal said that it will certainly be completed within two years from now.“Of the 176 beds, 140 beds will be there in the wards. The remaining 36 will be ICU beds,” said the principal. The principal also claimed that in respect of faculty strength, 90% teaching positions have been filled as per MCI norms. “There was some imbalance in sanctioned posts in different departments and this imbalance would be corrected,” said the principal.About the trauma centre, the principal said that the trauma centre fell in the domain of hospital superintendent. Demanding early establishment of the trauma centre, Yuva Prayas, activists of the civil group working in the field of road safety say that in the absence of a properly equipped trauma centre, number of deaths in road accidents was on the higher side. About 500 people die in road accidents in the district.Though work for the construction of a 50-bed trauma centre began more than a decade back in 2008, it got stopped at the plinth stage.
