This ranges from 5%-12% in other states. The tax rate on CNG in Delhi, for instance, is 5% and that in Lucknow is 12%,” a GAIL official said and added, “We will soon meet deputy chief minister Sushil Kumar Modi and request him to lower the tax on CNG.”Ajit Kumar, the owner of the Rukanpura petrol pump, told this newspaper on Tuesday, “People are getting their vehicles converted into CNG. We have a conversion outlet at this petrol pump where people can get CNG kits installed in their vehicles.”At present, several automobile companies have introduced CNG-fuelled autorickshaws in the market which are priced at Rs 2.24 lakh each.The state transport department has also geared up to provide financial assistance to those who are interested in replacing their autos with CNG-aided ones.
