PATNA: RJD chief Lalu Prasad will lose the 10, Circular Road bungalow, which has been witness to the rise and fall of his family and fortunes since 2005. The bungalow, allotted to Lalu’s wife Rabri Devi in the capacity of former CM, has to be vacated after the Patna high court order on all such bungalows on Tuesday. Lalu also stayed in the 10, Circular Road bungalow in the capacity of former CM before he was convicted and sent to jail in multi-crore fodder scam cases in December 2017.Once the ruling family of Bihar, the only official residence available to them in Patna as of now is the one allotted to Lalu’s elder son Tej Pratap Yadav, an MLA from Mahua. Lalu’s younger son Tejashwi Prasad Yadav, who is the leader of opposition in the state assembly, also stays with his mother. Tejashwi is yet to move into the 1, Polo Road bungalow allotted to him. After losing the legal battle in the Supreme Court, Tejashwi had to vacate the 5, Deshratna Marg bungalow, which had been allotted to him in the capacity of deputy CM in the Mahagathbandhan government.The 10, Circular Road bungalow has had been virtually the RJD fortress since losing power in 2005. All important party meetings and other celebrations, including Lalu’s birthday, Chhath Puja and Makar Sankranti feast were held there only. It also has a canopy area for holding party meets as well as addressing public gathering. Besides, several dogs, peafowls, cows and buffaloes are kept as pet on the premises. The bungalow is also strategically located, as it is in front of CM’s 1, Aney Marg.“We hope Rabri ji will be allotted another government bungalow in the capacity of leader of opposition in Bihar legislative council, but many memories are associated with the 10, Circular Road bungalow,” said RJD spokesperson Chitranjan Gagan.Tej Pratap was allotted 3, Deshratna Marg when he was health minister in the GA government. But he shifted to Rabri’s residence after losing power. He later left the bungalow after filing a divorce petition against his wife of six months, Aishwarya Rai.While he stayed with his friends in Patna, Vrindavan and Varanasi over the next few weeks, Tej was finally allotted 7M, Strand Road bungalow in the third week of December last after he urged CM Nitish Kumar for a separate accommodation in the capacity of an MLA.As things stand now, Tej is the only member in Lalu’s family, who is legally occupying a government bungalow!
