PATNA: Discussions on the sharing of seats among Mahagathbandhan constituents seemed to have run into rough weather on Sunday after RJD refused to give more than eight seats to Congress in Bihar . Sources said RJD conveyed its message to Congress, which wants at least 11 seats, through an emissary sent by party chief Lalu Prasad on Saturday.A senior Congress leader from Gujarat, who shares a cordial relationship with Lalu, on Sunday invited Tejashwi for fresh talks. Sources said Tejashwi, who was supposed to return to Patna from Delhi on Satuday, chose to stay back in the national capital.RLSP chief Upendra Kushwaha went back to Delhi soon after he arrived at Patna airport on Sunday. He was scheduled to attend a programme at Rafiganj. RLSP is one of the Mahagathbandhan allies.“Kushwaha had reached Patna to attend a party programme at Rafiganj in Aurangabad where leaders of other political parties were expected to join RLSP. He returned to Delhi from the airport itself,” RLSP spokesperson Fazal Imam Mallick said.On Sunday evening, Congress legislature party leader Sadanand Singh left for Delhi by train following the directives from his party to take part in a fresh dialogue over seat distribution.The sources said Kushwaha, Tejashwi and senior Congress leaders would meet in Delhi on Monday to discuss seat distribution again keeping in mind Lalu’s offer of 8 seats to Congress. The RJD chief even indicated Congress can contest all 40 Lok Sabha seats in Bihar alone.“RJD has no problem with smaller allies like RLSP, HAM(S) and Vikassheel Insaan Party (VIP). Their problem is with the Congress,” a senior leader of a Mahagathbandhan constituent said.AICC incharge for Bihar Shaktisinh Gohil said, “Please wait for two days. Everything would be cleared.”VIP president Mukesh Sahni, who returned to Patna after talks with Mahagathbandhan leaders in Delhi, said the alliance would announce its seat-sharing formula in Patna on March 19.On Saturday, state Congress chief Madan Mohan Jha said Mahagathbandhan might call a press conference on Monday. Sahni added, “We can hold the press conference only on Tuesday because Tejashwi and Kushwaha will return here from Delhi on Monday.”Sahni said, “RLSP and Jitan Ram Manjhi’s HAM(S) are also satisfied with the number of seats allotted to them.”
