Like Paras, Ram Vilas has also fielded his yet another brother Ram Chandra Paswan from Samastipur (reserved) parliamentary constituency. Paras was first elected to the state assembly from Alauli in 1977, after Ram Vilas vacated it after entering the Lok Sabha from the Hajipur parliamentary constituency. Chandan has been fielded in place of Surajbhan’s wife Veena Singh, who is the sitting MP of Munger parliamentary constituency and has now opted to retire from active politics. Further, the LJP’s candidate for the Vaishali seat, Veena Devi, was an MLA and is also the wife of MLC Dinesh Singh. Singh himself had been first elected to the Lok Sabha from Balia constituency in Begusarai district.

PATNA: The LJP led by Union minister Ram Vilas Paswan has once again lived up to its reputation of promoting ‘dynasty’ politics. The ‘dynasty’ syndrome, it appears, has also caught other NDA constituents, including the BJP, which, incidentally, has been the most vociferous critic of it.The birth and perpetuation of the same syndrome became clear on Saturday, as the BJP national general secretary and the party’s Bihar election incharge Bhupender Yadav released the list of the candidates of the JD(U), BJP and LJP for the 2019 parliamentary election. For, be it the LJP, BJP or even the JD(U), the three political parties have fielded some candidates who are either the sons or brother or even the spouse of persons who have been in politics, even as the number of such families is not large. The most famous of them all, however, is the family of Ram Vilas Paswan. While Ram Vilas is the sitting MP of Hajipur (reserved) constituency, he was first elected to the Lok Sabha in 1977, having been earlier elected to the state assembly in the 1969 byelection from the Alauli (reserved) assembly constituency in the present Khagaria district. Since 1977, it has been no looking back for him, as he was either a member of the Lok Sabha or the Rajya Sabha on umpteenth occasions. This time, Ram Vilas has fielded his brother Pashupati Kumar Paras, an MLC and minister in the Nitish Kumar government, from the Hajipur parliamentary constituency. Paras was first elected to the state assembly from Alauli in 1977, after Ram Vilas vacated it after entering the Lok Sabha from the Hajipur parliamentary constituency. Like Paras, Ram Vilas has also fielded his yet another brother Ram Chandra Paswan from Samastipur (reserved) parliamentary constituency. Already, his son Chirag Paswan, second in the LJP hierarchy after Ram Vilas, is the sitting MP from Jamui and has been fielded again. As from the BJP camp, the party has fielded Ashok Kumar Yadav, son of its senior politician and MP Hukumdeo Narayan Yadav from Madhubani. Similarly, the BJP’s candidate for the Muzaffarpur seat, Ajay Nishad, is the son of former MP Captain Jai Narayan Nishad. As for political family in the making, the LJP has also fielded Chandan Kumar, younger brother of former MP Surajbhan Singh, from the Nawada parliamentary seat. Chandan has been fielded in place of Surajbhan’s wife Veena Singh, who is the sitting MP of Munger parliamentary constituency and has now opted to retire from active politics. Singh himself had been first elected to the Lok Sabha from Balia constituency in Begusarai district. Further, the LJP’s candidate for the Vaishali seat, Veena Devi, was an MLA and is also the wife of MLC Dinesh Singh.
