PATNA: The state BJP has sharpened its attack on the party’s disgruntled Patna Sahib MP Shatrughan Sinha. Senior party functionary and deputy CM Sushil Kumar Modi on Sunday suggested Sinha not to face more ‘embarrassment’ by contesting polls and joining ‘Yashwant club’.According to political observers, Yashwant club, named after veteran leader Yashwant Sinha, refers to ‘margdarshak mandal’ members of the BJP. These members are the ones who have either left BJP or are in the ‘bad books’ of the party.Shatrughan too made a clear indication of his ‘newfound’ loyalty to Congress through a tweet addressed to PM Narendra Modi with the hashtag of #CongressYuktBharat.BJP has replaced Shatrughan with Union minister Ravi Shankar Prasad in Patna Sahib Lok Sabha seat, which will go to polls in the seventh phase on May 19.Shatrughan is likely to join Congress in a day or two and seek his re-election from Patna Sahib seat.The deputy CM snubbed Shatrughan, two-time sitting MP from Patna Sahib, saying the latter would not get even polling agents if he contests from Patna Sahib constituency.“Shatruji, it’s a free friendly advice. Don’t get yourself more embarrassed at this point of your age. There are five MLAs of BJP in Patna Sahib constituency. You will face difficulties even in getting polling agents. It would be better for you to leave poll battle and join Yashwant club (sic),” the deputy CM tweeted on Sunday.The BJP’s central leadership has so far avoided directly attacking Shatrughan, even though he has been critical of his own party and PM Narendra Modi. His proximity and frequent meetings with opposition leaders in the recent months has not gone down well with the saffron party.Shatrughan continued his barbs on PM Modi on Sunday through a series of tweets. “Sirji, I believe you are desperately looking for and raising your voice against vanshwaad (nepotism) in Congress. Why are you so desperate? You just need to first look around your own people and alliance parties. Every party is full of so called ‘vanshwaad’. Like in your own party in Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, Maharashtra and in most of your alliance partners too (sic),” Shatrughan tweeted.He added, “By the way Sir, what happened to your promise of #CongressMuktBharat? Also gone with the wind like ‘Smart Cities’ and other promises?! Don’t worry Sir, it’s now right time for #CongressYuktBharat (sic).”Meanwhile, Congress functionaries in Bihar claimed Shatrughan would join the party in New Delhi either on Monday or Tuesday. “He will be given ticket for Patna Sahib constituency. We are certain that Shatrughan will give Ravi Shankar Prasad a run for his money even though Patna Sahib has been a BJP bastion,” a senior Bihar Congress functionary said.
