PATNA: Two suspected terrorists from Bangladesh were arrested by the anti-terrorism squad (ATS) of the state police from Patna Junction area on Sunday night. Documents related to recent attack on a CRPF convoy at Pulwama in Jammu and Kashmir and photographs of some places of worship in Bihar, including the world heritage site at Bodh Gaya , were also seized from their possession.The sleuths of the ATS picked up the two — Abu Sultan and Khairul Mandal — when they were moving in a suspicious manner near a guesthouse in the vicinity of the Patna Junction. During interrogation, the two admitted that they visited Bodh Gaya, a pilgrimage of the Buddhists, and stayed there for 11 days.The interrogators were taken aback when Sultan and Khairul, both residents of Chapatalla village under the Maheshpur police station area in Jhenauda district of Bangladesh, revealed that they wanted to visit Syria to join ISIS and take part in ‘jehad’. They were in Bihar to indoctrinate youths belonging to a particular community to join the terror outfits, police sources said.According to sources, the suspected terrorists, stated to be active members of Jamiat-ul-Mujahideen of Bangladesh and Islamic State Bangladesh (ISBD), had done recce of religious places in Bihar to carry out an attack on them. Some active operatives of the two terrorist outfits, including Noorul Hoda, Rinku Mandal, Saibur and Masum, were earlier arrested by the police.Both the suspected terror operatives entered Bihar from Bangladesh without any valid visa. Moreover, they were carrying fake voter identity cards issued from Bihar to dodge the security as well as intelligence agencies. A senior police officer said evidences related to their visit to Kerala , Kolkata and Delhi have been collected.Besides posters and banners of ISIS, the police recovered three cellphones, a memory card, two fake Indian voter identity cards, a fake PAN card, tickets of travel by train from New Delhi to Kolkata and from Gaya to Patna and tickets of travel by bus from Kolkata to Patna from them.Both Khairul and Sultan have been booked on charges of hatching a conspiracy to carry out terror attacks in Indian cities and spreading hatred by indoctrinating innocent youth to join banned terror outfits.
