KC Sinha to head Patna science college

PATNA: Patna University (PU) mathematics department teacher K C Sinha took over as the new principal of Patna Science College on Sunday afternoon. PU VC Rash Bihari Prasad Singh and PU zoology department head Arbind Kumar graced the occasion. Magsaysay award winner Rajendra Singh, PU vice-chancellor Rash Bihari Prasad Singh and pro-VC Dolly Sinha, Nalanda Open University VC R K Sinha and PU development officer P K Khan addressed the seminar. Sinha has successfully guided hundreds of young scholars in competitive entrance tests for technical courses in premier institutions of the country.Sinha also took over as the new dean of PU science faculty in place of Prasad. Prominent among those who participated in the deliberations included Sana Asif, Rimjhim Kumari, Snigdha Supriya, Dhruvee Sinha, Sarvesh Kumar, Satyam Solanky and Yogita Jain.

He succeeded Radha Kant Prasad, who retired from PU service on Sunday. Sinha has successfully guided hundreds of young scholars in competitive entrance tests for technical courses in premier institutions of the country.Sinha also took over as the new dean of PU science faculty in place of Prasad. L N Roy joined as the new head of PU mathematics department.Meanwhile, Patna Science College chemistry teacher Rajneesh Kumar has been appointed new proctor of PU in place of G K Palei, who superannuated from service on Sunday.Academic session held: In a distinct departure from the usual classroom teaching, Patna University (PU) English department organized an academic session for its postgraduate students in which they were asked to analyse the short stories from the book ‘The speechless and other stories’ written by state development commissioner Subhash Sharma, at Darbhanga House here on Saturday.Students’ critical ability and analytical skill were at their best when they nicely dealt with the stories representing many voices that belong to the periphery and are inured into silence. Sharma, who was present on the occasion, was highly appreciative of the interpretive skills of the students.At the outset, department head Shankar Ashish Dutt emphasized the need to represent the narratives of the disadvantaged and the dispossessed. Prominent among those who participated in the deliberations included Sana Asif, Rimjhim Kumari, Snigdha Supriya, Dhruvee Sinha, Sarvesh Kumar, Satyam Solanky and Yogita Jain. PU teacher Indiber Mukherjee proposed the vote of thanks.Young Scientists’ Award: Gauav Prakash Mishra and Komal of PU were given young scientists’ award in men and women’s categories respectively for their best presentation at the national seminar on “Issues pertaining to sustainable management of water quality”, organized by the environment science and management course of Patna University (PU) zoology department at Wheeler Senate House here on Friday. Gaurav also got the first prize in the poster competition organized on the occasion.More than 150 research papers were presented at the seminar. Magsaysay award winner Rajendra Singh, PU vice-chancellor Rash Bihari Prasad Singh and pro-VC Dolly Sinha, Nalanda Open University VC R K Sinha and PU development officer P K Khan addressed the seminar. Organizing secretary D K Paul proposed the vote of thanks.Alumni Meet: The alumni of PU PG course in environmental science and management met for the first time at their alma mater here on Saturday. They assured of their full cooperation in the development of the department. PU VC Rash Bihari Prasad Singh and PU zoology department head Arbind Kumar graced the occasion.
