Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday launched the `Internet Fiber by Optical Fiber in every village` project connecting optical fiber internet to all 45,945 villages in Bihar. Under this project of the Department of Telecommunications, Government of India, high speed internet will be provided by laying optical fiber in all the villages of Bihar by March 2021 at a cost of about Rs 1,000 crore.

Explain that PM Modi had said in his address from Red Fort on Independence Day (August 15, 2020) that in the next one thousand days all six lakh villages of the country will be connected to optical fiber internet. He started this from Bihar and has also set a target by March 31, 2021 to complete this task in the state.

PM Modi described the project as the launch of the digital future of Bihar. He said that due to good availability of internet, the distances of village and city will be erased and people will not have to come to the city for many facilities. He also congratulated the people of Bihar that on completion of this project, Bihar will become the first state in the country to connect all villages with optical fiber internet. PM Modi said that India is one of the leading countries in the world in terms of digital transactions. In August 2020, transactions worth about Rs 3 lakh crore were done through UPI alone.

At the same time, `Digital Revolution` will come in remote areas of Bihar under this scheme. The project will be implemented with the joint efforts of the Department of Communications, Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology and Common Service Centers (CSC). CSC has 34 thousand 821 centers across Bihar and will use its workforce in this project. Under this project, one Wi-Fi and five free connections will be provided in government schools like primary schools and Anganwadi centers. Through this project, villagers will get the benefit of digital services.
