The Election Commission is engaged in a new voting system for more than 1.5 lakh service voters of Bihar. For these, an electronically transmitted postal ballot management system is being introduced. Registered service voters will get their ballot paper at their desired location through mobile app.

They will get the ballot printed there. Then, by voting for the favorite candidate, they will be able to send the ballot to the election official. Service voters of different assembly constituencies will no longer have to wait for a ballot from the postal department to vote.

The district currently has 160422 service voters. The commission will register them under ETPBS and make their ballot paper available online through mobile. Earlier, service voters were late in getting ballots from the postal department. Sometimes, these voters did not even get the ballot paper due to the error in name and address.

First step towards online voting
Although it is too early to say that the election is preparing for online voting, but the experts are telling the first step in this direction. After the introduction of this facility for service voters at a small level, it can be expanded in future. At present, Assistant Commissioner of Election Commission Saksham Kumar has sought feedback from the State Election Department in this regard. While deciding the process of using the postal ballot through mobile, he has said that if there is scope for any improvement or amendment in it, please inform the Election Commission soon. So that its process is put in place before the election.
