Retired professor's son shot dead in hostel in Patna, many students disappeared after closing the room

The SHO said that on Saturday night, Vishnu Kumar alias Sigma, the son of a retired professor, was shot in the head in a room located in the lower part of the Ambedkar hostel. As soon as the information was received, the police reached the hostel.

35-year-old Vishnu Kumar alias Sigma, son of a retired professor, was shot dead by miscreants on Saturday night in Ambedkar hostel of Bahadurpur police station area.

The reason for the incident could not be clarified. Bahadurpur SHO Sanovar Khan told that Vishnu was of slow intelligence. Prima facie it appears that the youth has been murdered in a quarrel with the students. On the statement of the youth`s brother Robis, a case of murder has been registered against unknown miscreants.

The investigation is on in the matter. After the incident, about four dozen students of the hostel have disappeared after locking the room.

The SHO said that on Saturday night, Vishnu Kumar alias Sigma, the son of a retired professor, was shot in the head in a room located in the lower part of the Ambedkar hostel. As soon as the information was received, the police reached the hostel. The injured was hurriedly brought to NMCH, where doctors declared Vishnu brought dead. Police sent the body to Nalanda Medical College for post-mortem.

According to the police, Vishnu Ambedkar, son of Patna University professor Nandlal Paswan, used to cook food for the students while staying in the hostel. He also brought goods from outside for the hostel students. According to the students of the hostel, Vishnu had no enmity with anyone.

According to information received from sources, Vishnu Kumar alias Sigma has been killed in a fight between two miscreants. Prima facie the police suspect that the bullet may have been fired in showing the pistol. Police are searching for the killers. The SHO said that on the statement of the deceased`s brother Robis, a case of murder has been registered against unknown miscreants. Police is probing the whole matter.
