Due to lack of clear answer from the university administration for the last several days, a number of 250 students had gathered in the university campus on Tuesday. The agitating students were shouting slogans.

On Tuesday, the police lathi-charged the B.Tech students at Aryabhatta Knowledge University. Hundreds of students of the first semester of engineering colleges session 2020-2024 were demanding promotion on the basis of internal assessment due to pending examination.

Due to lack of clear answer from the university administration for the last several days, a number of 250 students had gathered in the university campus on Tuesday. The agitating students were shouting slogans.

Meanwhile, the police who reached the spot first explained to the students and later dispersed the crowd of students by lathi-charge. Many students have suffered serious injuries during this. One student`s hand is also broken. Some students have also been detained by the police.

Here, till now no decision has been taken by the university administration to promote or not to promote the students. Students say that already the first semester students` session has been delayed by eight months. Now if the exam is taken, it will take one and a half months for the result to come. In this case the session will be delayed by one year.

They should be promoted on the basis of internal assessment. Despite having such guidelines, the university is deliberately ignoring the demand of the students. The students said that the agitation against these demands would continue even further.

Students of all engineering colleges of Bihar affiliated to Aryabhatta Knowledge University have spoken of uniting on this demand. BTech students Sonu Kumar, Rahul Kumar, Aditya Kumar, Raunak Raj, Rajesh Ranjan told that after two days it has been said that a decision will be taken by the university in this regard.

The protesting students were demanding a written assurance. Some became furious in the crowd of students. Then the police reached the spot. She started removing the agitators, only then there was a heated argument from both the sides.

After which the police removed the students by using mild force. The controller of examination said that they have no information about the lathi charge.

Controller of Examinations of Aryabhatta Knowledge University, Rajeev Ranjan said that the demand of the students is under consideration of the examination board of the university. There was a government directive not to take any kind of examination during the Corona period. So it was not possible to take the exam.

Recently, when the instructions regarding the examination have come, all the options are being considered. The internal marks of the first year students have been sought from all the engineering colleges of the state. Five colleges did not send the marks in the excel sheet.

The biggest issue in the whole matter is that all the students are from the first semester. The university administration says that if there were other semesters, then they could have been promoted easily on the basis of the previous semester and on the basis of internal marks.

Even if promoted on the basis of internal marks only, there will be a big difference in the marks of the students because the internal marks are different in different colleges. Sometimes it`s too much and sometimes it`s too little.
