PATNA: A Don Bosco Academy teacher died on the spot after a dumper hit his bike and the heavy vehicle’s rear wheel ran over his head on the Ashiana-Digha road in Patna on Thursday morning. Deepak Kumar was on way to school when the accident took place around 6.15am, half a kilometre away from the campus.The 30-year-old computer teacher had tied the knot with Roma Sharma of city’s Jagdeo Path area on November 26 last year. He was the sole bread earner of his family of wife, mother Indu and younger sister Shikha. His elder sister Meghna is married.A Don Bosco official, Sudhir Kumar, told TOI Kumar was wearing a crash helmet, but it could not save him because the dumper was too heavy.The school’s bus number 10 was behind Deepak when the accident took place. “A young boy was at the wheel in the dumper. He fled from the spot abandoning the vehicle which was later seized by police,” the bus driver said.Deepak, who earlier taught in St Karen’s High School, resided at Ara Garden along with his family. “He was a polite boy. He did not take even a single penny as dowry in marriage,” Roma’s uncle Rakesh Sharma said, tears welling up in his eyes.
